Serious Youth Violence Awareness

This introductory webinar is designed to increase practitioners' understanding of Serious Youth Violence (SYV) and its impact on children, young people, families, and communities.

During this two-hour session, participants will explore what Serious Youth Violence is, the key risk factors and vulnerabilities associated with it, and the wider contextual issues that can contribute to a young person's involvement. The webinar will also cover indicators of concern, the importance of early intervention, and the role of professionals in identifying, responding to, and safeguarding children and young people who may be affected.

By the end of the session, participants will have a greater awareness of:

  • What  Serious Youth Violence is.
  • Common risk factors and warning signs linked to SYV.
  • The impact of Serious Youth Violence on young people and communities.
  • The importance of contextual safeguarding and multi-agency working.
  • How to respond appropriately and seek support where concerns arise.

This session is suitable for all professionals working with children, young people, and families across education, health, social care, community, and voluntary sector services.
