Mental Capacity workshop (as part of a Safeguarding Adult Review (SAR)
The Lancashire and Blackpool Safeguarding Adults Boards are facilitating a dedicated learning workshop on Mental Capacity, as part of a Safeguarding Adult Review (SAR), adopting a learning-focused approach to promote best practice and shared understanding across the partnership.
We’re delighted to welcome Neil Allen of LPS Law to facilitate this full-day workshop. This workshop is specifically designed for Senior managers, Operational managers, Principal Social Workers, and Legal teams across our partnerships.
Attendees will be expected to cascade the learning within their own organisations to support wider understanding and practice improvement.
This full-day workshop will offer an in-depth exploration of key areas relevant to safeguarding practice and legal frameworks, including:
- Dignity and safeguarding frameworks (e.g. Care Act, hoarding law etc)
- Test for capacity
- Executive dysfunction
- Court of Protection and deprivations of liberty
- Inherent jurisdiction of the High Court
- Insights from other local/national Safeguarding Adult Reviews
To support ongoing learning, a suite of resources—including learning briefing, Presentation, and fact sheets will be shared following the session.
